8 Things to Know About the New iPhone 5

The new iPhone 5 will be released soon! To celebrate it's impending launch, here's 8 things you should know about it.

  1. It's thinner and lighter despite a larger 4-inch display and 4G LTE connectivity
  2. You can now see an extra row of icons on the home screen and apps will now show more info. App makers will have to optimize their icons for the new iPhone, otherwise it will have a black boarder around it.
  3. Has a 4G function which means added LTE support for faster data speed
  4. 18% thinner than the iPhone 4S and 20% lighter. It also has a differently designed back.
  5. For it's processor, the iPhone 5 has an A6 chip which is rumored to have twice the computing and graphic power of the A5 chip in the 4S.
  6. While the pixel count is the same at a modest 8 megapixels, Apple says its improved processing will reduce background noise, speed capture and improve low-lighten shots. It also has a panorama mode that allows the user to create a 28-megapixel wide-screen image as the user pans around.
  7. Battery life has remained the same for most features: 3G talk (8 hours), video (10 hours), music (40 hours). However, there are some improvements. 3G/4G browsing is now 8 hours, 10 for wi-fi and 225 for standby.
  8. Colours and gigabyte sizes haven't changed. Your choice of black or white in 16GB, 32GB or 64GB.
The iPhone 5 can be pre-ordered starting September 14th and offically launches on September 21st.
