Creating a good website is important. Here's a few tips to help you create a strong online presence and make an impact on your visitors:

  • Clean visuals: create a website that is both visually pleasing and easy to look at. Make sure there's a sharp colour contrast between the background and font to ensure your content is easy to read. Keep it simple and functional.
  • Keep in mind your audiences' behavior: readers are likely to first look at the left side of your page and work their way right. Place your most important information and links to the left to catch their eye.
  • Colours attract  research shows that blue background are likely to keep readers reading longer. Think about it; the most popular social media sites have blue backgrounds- Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter.
  • Easy to use navigation: don't clutter your navigation bar with too many subheadings. Website visitors may become lost or confused and skip over information. Keep it simple and promote your most important information.
  • Effective Content: avoid dense paragraphs. Break up your content, use headings, try bullet-points and pick easy-to-read font. Check one of our other blogs for more info on effective web content.
  • Watch your scrolling: do not use use horizontal scrolling. It's harder to use and may deter readership. Instead, keep it to traditional vertical scrolling.
  • Fast and efficient: avoid large files, flash images and anything else that may take a long time to load. Keep your reader's momentum up by making a website that loads easily and can be viewed efficiently and quickly
