- Get to the point: 160 character's gets spent fast so just cut to the chase. It's tempting to write introductions or something to convey a better sense of who you are. However you might not have space. Get out an exact description of your business If you have space left over, then go for the personal touch.
- Use hashtags: hashtags are those words that have a "#" in front of them. Use those in your description. When someone does a search on Twitter, hashtags link you to what they're looking for and could potentially turn into a follow. Try #graphicdesigner, #gourmetcheese, etc. There may plenty of generic tags like #marketing so narrow yours down to something more specific like #digitalmarketing, #instoremarketing, etc.
- Fill out the whole form: don't forget to include a link, location and all that jazz. If you don't have a website, shame on you, but throw in a Facebook page or blog link. Anything to further engage visitors.

Contrary to popular belief, your favourite quote or a smiley face is not acceptable. It matters! When people are leafing through a list of potential people to follow, you have 160 characters to convince them you're worth following or they'll move on. Here's what to keep in mind:
