Website Security Tips

Hackers and viruses are getting more aggressive these days. It's important to do whatever you can to protect yourself and your various online accounts from spyware and adware. Here's a few tips to help you create a more secure online presence for yourself:

  • security scans- regularly check your computer for adware and spyware to ensure it's 100% bug free. Try free programs such as Ad-Ware and Spybot Search to clean up your computer. There's also Anti-Virus which does a quick scan for any bugs.
  • avoid "click here for money" and "hot local singles in your area" ads- sadly they will really give you money or the girl of your dreams. But they will install spyware, ad-ware and viruses.
  • don't leave emails open in public- if your out and need to check your emails in public, remember to log off! If not, someone could access your emails and retrieve information you don't want them to have.
  • create strong passwords- do not use "password" or your name. It's too easy to guess and your online accounts, including your email, could be hacked. Instead, make a complex password with a variety of numbers and letter that would be hard for someone to guess.
